The Nigerian Army has reportedly laid a siege at the residence of Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the legal representative of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB).
Mr Ejiofor who also doubles as the lawyer of Femi Fani-Kayode, a former Aviation Minister, confirmed the military operation at his place of abode.
TODAY POLITICS learnt the home of the lawyer is situated in Oraifitie, Ekwusigo Local Government Area, Anambra State.
“Alert,” Mr Ejiofor posted on Twitter Sunday morning. “Joint team of the police and Army are presently in my house shooting sporadically on sight, to arrest me. As a lawyer i hve committed no offence known to law. My life is unde serious threat. People are being killed and i don’t know what will happen to me next.
“Pray for me and my entire household. You may not hear from me again till further notice,” he added.
Messrs Fani-Kayode and Kanu confirmed the siege at the residence of their lawyer.
“I just spoke with Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor who is one of my lawyers & a lawyer to IPOB & @MaziNnamdiKanu. He told me that his Anambra home has been flooded by soldiers, policemen & DSS operatives & that they are shooting in an attempt to kill him.For God sake stop the violence!” the former minister tweeted.
“The world MUST be put on notice that for the second time, the country home of Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor has been surrounded by @HQNigerianArmy, @PoliceNG & DSS in a bid to assassinate him. It is imperative that this latest provocation is stopped. This is why they banned @Twitter,” Mr Kanu confirmed also in a tweet on the micro-blogging site.
This is not the first time a military action has been carried out in his residence. A 2019 siege at the Oraifitie home left four persons dead. The lawyer instituted a N2billion suit which is still before the court.
