Aisha Buhari, wife of the president has deactivated her Twitter account, TODAY POLITICS, observed.
Her account, @AishaMBuhari, when accessed Saturday morning, showed it had been deactivated after she had promised to do so.
“I will be deactivating my twitter account for now. Long live Federal Republic of Nigeria,” She tweeted late Friday from the verified account.
“This account doesn’t exist,” the micro-blogging site said on Saturday. “Try searching for another.”
Moments later, she fulfilled her promises. Her Husband, President Muhammadu Buhari, had on Friday announced the ban on Twitter operations in the country, saying the social media giant is playing double standard.
Also, TODAY POLITICS learnt that the ban has been enforced as earlier announced. Twitter is no longer accessible except if one is making use of VPN.
