A faction of the Rivers house of assembly has withdrawn impeachment proceedings against Siminalayi Fubara, governor of the state.
About the 24 lawmakers loyal to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, who signed the impeachment proceedings against the governor withdrew the notice on Wednesday.
Martin Amaewhule, speaker of the faction, announced the lawmakers’ decision during their sitting at the assembly quarters in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
The lawmakers based their decision on the resolutions reached during a meeting with President Bola Tinubu.
