Security operatives and protesters of the RevolutionNow movement have clashed in Abuja.
The advocacy group tropped out today to demonstrate nationwide over rising insecurity, among other disturbing national issues.
Leader of the group, Omoyele Sowore, who was arrested last year over similar action, said the Wednesday protest is expected to hold in 10 cities nationwide, including Abuja, the nation’s capital.
But while the protesters where still gathering at the Federal Secretariat, their take off point, security operatives, swooped on them arresting about 60 of its members.
“We are currently witnessing a joint madness by the military, police and other security agencies as over 60 of our comrades have been arrested over peaceful #RevolutionNow protest,” Deji Adeyanju, one of the leaders of the group said in a Wednesday statement.
“The Abacha days are here once again,” Mr Adeyanju added.
