You’re the patron of criminals – Shehu Sani replies amused Soyinka

As the trial of Omoyele Sowore, convener of  resumes today, Shehu Sani, a former lawmaker and Nobel laureate, Wole Soyinka, are present at the court to show solidarity to the Sahara Reporters publisher.

Mr Omoyele is being tried on charges of cyberstalking, treason, and insulting President Muhammadu Buhari.

When the former representative of Kaduna Central at the eight Senate headed to take his seat at the Abuja Federal High Court, venue of the trial, he came in contact with the Nobel laureate whom he exchanged banters with.

“Ah here comes another criminal,” Mr Soyinka who was already seated amusingly said while referring to the lawmaker searching for where to seat.

“Sir, you are the patron of the criminals club,” Mr Sani said while replying the jest thrown at him.

Meanwhile, supporters of the journalist are protesting outside the court building and calling for the withdrawal of charges against Mr Sowore.
