With new 626 infections, Nigeria’s COVID-19 cases exceed 27,000

With the confirmation of 626 fresh Coronavirus disease infections in the country, the total number of confirmed cases have exceeded 27,000 since the pandemic broke out in the nation late February.

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC), in its latest data released Thursday night, said 649 patients recovered from the deadly virus while 13 deaths were recorded nationwide in the last 24 hours.

The new figure brings the total number of confirmed cases to 27110 out of which 10801 have been treated and discharged while the death toll increased to 616 in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The 626 new cases are reported from 20 states- Lagos (193), FCT (85), Oyo (41), Edo (38), Kwara (34), Abia (31), Ogun (29), Ondo (28), Rivers (26), Osun (21), Akwa Ibom (18), Delta (18), Enugu (15), Kaduna (13), Plateau (11), Borno (8),Bauchi (7), Adamawa (5), Gombe (4) and Sokoto (1).
