Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, has stormed the Port Harcourt residence of Joi Nunieh, former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
The building, TODAY POLITICS earlier reported, was under siege by armed security operatives. The siege prevented the former NDDC boss from leaving for Abuja where she is expected to appear before the Senate Committee probing the alleged mismanagement of N40billion at the commission.
Arriving the scene, the governor ordered the security operatives, who are said to be waiting to arrest her, to vacate the premises.
He went inside the building and whisked her away to the state government house. The governor had earlier warned that his administration will not fold its hand and watch the former NDDC MD being humiliated.
Wike had also warned Godswill Akpabio, the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, to tread with caution over the accusations and counter-accusations messrs Akpabio and Nunieh are currently engaged in.
