The governor lost the presidential ticket of the party to Atiku Abubakar, a former vice president who was the party’s candidate in the last election in 2019.
Mr Wike, one of the Southern governors who requested for power rotation to the South, was also recommended by a committee set by the party to pick its vice presidential candidate. Again he was ditched for his Delta State counterpart, Ifeanyi Okowa.
The aggrieved politician has been meeting with opposition politicians who aim at luring him to their political parties. The outspoken governor who has been in the PDP since the return to democratic rule in 1999 is reported in some quarters to have resolved to team up with the ruling party to ensure power returns to the South, although he is yet to confirm siding the APC.
