Why I’ll not dialogue with bandits again: Masari

Aminu Masari, governor of Katsina State, has backtracked in his dialogue with bandits, claiming there are not sincere.

Mr Masari stated this while featuring on Channels Television’s Politics Today Wednesday evening.

The governor and some of his colleagues in the Northern region were previously dialoguing with the criminals, claiming it was the only option to lasting peace in their respective states.

But answering a question, he said he will no longer negotiate with the criminals except if they are willing to surrender all their arms and come out of the forest.

His position is similar to that of Niger State governor, Abubakar Sani-Bello, who said the criminals faked repentance to deceive him but return to banditry after being rewarded with monetary and material support to help them start a new life.
