Why I won’t sing hallelujah because FG approved repairs of Port-Harcourt refinery: Wike

Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers State, says he will not sing hallelujah because the federal government announced it has approved funds for repairs of Port-Harcourt refinery.

Mr Wike who stated this while featuring on Channels Television’s Politics Today Wednesday evening, added that although he will be happy if the government is sincere on the plan, he doubted it will be implemented because this it was not the first time the federal government has promised and failed on such issues.

“I am not going to jubiliate because the FG has said they have approved $1.5Bn…it is not something to say ‘Hallelujah!” the governor said, adding that, “We have had a lot of promises, we have had a lot of talks and nothing has materialized.

He also berated Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, for questioning what he does with the thirteen percent derivation funds he received, saying the former governor of Akwa Ibom State does not have the right to question him because he is not from the state and never voted for him to be governor.

The Rivers helmsman who said only indigenes of the state has such right to question him, challenged any former governors from the region to list what they did while in office that has surpassed his.

“I challenge any governor from 2007 in the South-South to 2015 to challenge the governor of Rivers State, that when I was governor in my state, I did this I did that,” Wike said.
