What I will do to those who killed Imo traditional rulers – Uzodinma

Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo has vowed to ensure those who killed traditional rulers in the state do not go scot free.

On Tuesday, gunmen invaded a meeting where traditional rulers were deliberating and killed three of the monarchs.

Reacting to the incident which occurred in Njaba council, Mr Uzodinma while addressing journalists at the state government house described the development as a new dimension to banditry and promised to ensure such does not repeat itself.

The Imo helmsman vowed to ensure the criminals were caught for justice to take its course.

“The situation is very pathetic and condemnable,” the governor said. “This is a new dimension to the banditry in the state, where they now attack traditional rulers gathered in a hall for their normal meeting, with the council chairman presiding.

“All I know is that we will take it very seriously, and we must go out to every length to ensure that those behind that crime are brought to book.

“We will never allow such thing to happen again in the state. We will really go after them.

“I sympathise and condole with the families and relatives of these traditional rulers that died. It’s a very serious offence. It is unacceptable, condemnable, and we’ll never allow those who did it to go scot free,” Uzodinma vowed.
