DSS denies arresting EFCC chair Magu

The Department of State Services (DSS) has denied arresting Ibrahim Magu, the acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The spokesman of the DSS, Peter Afunanya, made this known while responding to queries as wether the anti-graft czar was arrested as reported in some quarters.

“The Department of State Services (DSS) wishes to inform the public that it did not arrest Ibrahim MAGU, Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as has been reported by sections of the media,” a short statement from Mr Afunanya to the International Centre for Investigative Reporting, read.

Mr Magu, who has been on the saddle of leadership at the EFCC, was recently reported to President Muhammadu Buhari by Abubakar Malami, the Attorney General of the Federation.

Mr Malami who accused him of insubordination, misconduct, recommended his removal from office.

Mr Buhari on his part is yet to officially act on the accusations as at press time.
