Femi Fani-Kayode, former Aviation Minister, says there was an attempt to arrest Sunday Adeyemo, popular Yoruba activist.

Mr Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has been at forefront of evicting violent herdsmen terrorising residents in the South-West geo-political zone.

Mohammed Adamu, Inspector General of Police, had reportedly ordered his arrest for chasing the problematic herders out of the Yoruba predominantly area.

Tweeting on his verified handle, the former minister said he spoke with Igboho who confirmed an attempt to pick him up while on his way to visit Ayo Adebanjo.

He said the joint team of soldiers, DSS operatives & policemen numbering about 40 made the attempt on the Ibadan/Lagos Expressway.

“I just spoke to my brother Sunday Igboho. He told me there was a violent attempt to arrest him this afternoon by a joint team of soldiers, DSS operatives & policemen numbering about 40 on the Ibadan/Lagos Expressway whilst he was on his way to see Baba Ayo Adebanjo in Lagos,” Fani-Kayode said attaching a video clip which showed the activist topless while trekking on foot with his supporters.

“I condemn this attempt to ambush& abduct him. It is not only reckless but also very dangerous. If the security agencies want to see him all they need to do is to invite him to their office. I am not aware of any crime that he has committed & I urge restraint on all sides,” the former minister added.
