The RevolutionNow march billed to commence today has kicked off in Lagos State.
This is despite the presence of combined security operatives staged at the entrance of the National Stadium in the state.
One of the leading figure of the protesters, Omoyele Sowore, who publishes Sahara Reporters, was picked up on Saturday by the State Security Services (SSS) in Lagos.
The police had described the planned action as an act of terrorism, promising to deal with anyone caught participating in the protest.
But at the demonstration began, instead of arresting the protesters as it earlier vowed to do, men of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) where pleading with the demonstrators to shelve the action.
Speculations in some quarters has it that Mr Sowore who has been transferred to Abuja will be charged for treason, although this has not been independently verified by TODAY POLITICS as at press time.
