VIDEO: Abuja police confront #EndSARS protesters with teargas, gunshots

Police officers on Friday confronted protesters demanding the dissolution of the brutal Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS).

Since an operative of the security outfit killed a man in Delta State weeks ago, calls for its end resurfaced. While Nigerians on social media are trending the #EndSARS hastag, others have taken to the street to register their displeasure.

In Abuja today, peaceful protesters where seen been chased by men of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF). A twenty-three seconds video clip circulating online shows that the confrontation between the demonstrators and the police started along Ahmadu Bello Way, Central Business District, Abuja.

According to reports, they were initially asked by operatives to disperse but the defiant protesters refused, chanting songs in solidarity. Their conduct angered the personnel who teargassed them while gunshots sounds rented the air.
