Hope Uzodimma, the governor of Imo State, has reacted to speculations in some quarters with regards to his administration installing an Emir in the state.
Mr Uzodimma was on Wednesday reported to have installed an Emir – a title used in addressing Muslim rulers – in the Christian predominantly state.
The rumor-mongers further backed up their claim with images of the governor with some delegates dressed in traditional attires.
Describing the report as fake news, the governor attributed it to the handiwork of opposition politicians in the state who are hell bent on distracting his administration.
He said the photos trending on social media was from a courtesy visit paid to him by Hausa community residing in the state.
“This was a courtesy visit from the Hausa community in Imo state,” Uzodimma said in a tweet on Thursday.
“The fake news in circulation is another attempt by opposition to distract this administration,” he added.
