President Muhammadu Buhari does not have what it takes to win the rescheduled presidential election, Bola Tinubu, a national leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has said.
The comments of Mr Tinubu are contained in series of leaked audio clips trending on the internet at the moment.
Although the APC Chieftain spokes in his native Yoruba language, the transcript of his comments has been published by a national daily, Thisday Newspapers.
Mr Buhari seeks a second term in office on the platform of the APC and the former Lagos State governor was heard saying he is sponsoring the president alone financially.
“For all those who have come to Bourdillon, you know why we are here. We are here for mobilisation. You know what I mean by mobilisation,” Mr Tinubu reportedly said.
He urged the party members to go out and seek votes for the president adding that he will only reward them financially when the result of the election favours his party.
“So, as registered APC members, you have to go and get your neighbours to come out and vote for the APC. It is after I have seen the favourable results of the elections that I will bring out good money.
“Buhari does not have the money that I want to steal and he doesn’t have the money I want to take from him. Also, he does not have the war chest for this presidential election.
“Therefore, whatever I’m promising you is for real – and it is coming from my own pocket. It is not until I go to Alausa before I can get money to give you,” he added.
A second part of the audio tapes has the ruling party official lambasting the Igbo tribe of the South-East region.
