The dust-up between Femi Fani-Kayode, a former Aviation Minister and revered cleric Pastor Tunde Bakare, is no more.
Mr Fani-Kayode stated this in a Wednesday tweet, days after he launched offensive against the cleric over his inconsistent assertions about Bola Tinubu, a former Lagos State governor.
Mr Tinubu is rumored to be scheming to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in office although he is yet to publicly declare his intention to run. Political analysts arrived at the conclusion judging from the body language of the chieftain of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).
Mr Bakare has attacked Tinubu severally but soft-pedalled on his critic recently, praising him as the leader of the Yoruba race, but the former minister in a recent article chronicled the conflicting statements of the cleric, vowing to publish his “ugly past.”
The helmsman of the Citadel Global Community Church in Lagos who deputised incumbent president Muhammadu Buhari during the 2011 presidential election to which they lost, in his response said he cannot be blackmailed and challenged Fani-Kayode to go ahead with the publication.
But in a tweet on Wednesday, the former minister announced a cease fire. He said the prompt intervention of Mogaji Adejumo, spokesman of the Yoruba Summit Group and Dele Momodu, Ovation publisher, led to the new development.
“Just concluded a 3-way conversation with Pastor Tunde Bakare & Mogaji Gboyega Adejumo, spokesman of the Yoruba Summit Group,” Mr Fani-Kayode said.
“We clarified all issues & put the matter behind us. My respect for Pastor Bakare remains high. I thank Mogaji & Chief Dele Momodu for their intervention,” he added.
