Three police officers were killed in Enugu State Wednesday night after being trailed by unknown gunmen.
The attack occurred at a bus stop in New Haven, Enugu North Local Government Area of the state, causing fear among residents in the area.
Police spokesman, Daniel Ndukwe, confirmed the attack Thursday morning, saying the armed men in a Lexus SUV opened fire on the patrol van carrying the police officers.
Mr Ndukwe, a deputy superintendent of police, said intensive manhunt has been launched to track down the fleeing assailants.
