Nigerians on Twitter are trending the hashtag #ThankYouBuhari, with some expressing their appreciation while others blasted the Nigerian leader.
Mr Buhari came to power in 2015 after historically defeating an incumbent president Goodluck Jonathan who sought re-election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the time.
Although, he contested thrice and vowed never to indicate interest for the position again, his fourth attempt in 2015 came saw the PDP stepping down from the power it held since the return to democratic rule in 1999.
Mr Buhari ran the race on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) a coalition of opposition parties fusing to become one with the sole aim of thwarting the predicted 60 years reign of the now opposing PDP.
While in the opposing camp, Buhari had made several promises to be fulfilled if elected president. He listed Security, Economy and Corruption as disturbing national issues which will receive utmost attention.
Although, Boko Haram terrorists which spearheaded insecurity before his administration has been contained to a certain level with some of its fighters rehabilitated into the society, bandits, kidnappers and killer herdsmen are now the new threat nationwide.
Some Nigerians this morning are trending the hashtag for and against the president. Below are some reaction captured by this reporter.
