Terrorism: Fani-Kayode withdraws support for Pantami, backs resignation call

Femi Fani-Kayode, former Aviation Minister, has withdrawn his support for Minister Isa Pantami, who heads Communications ministry.

Mr Pantami berated for his extremist views in the past struggled to persuade his critics to shelve demands for his resignation by renouncing his views which he said were made while he was immature, including the last he asseverated in 2006 while he was thirty-four-year-old.

Despite renouncing them, Nigerians are not backing down in their demand, maintaining that the embattled minister who exclaimed being happy whenever non-muslims are violently eliminated must step down.

He also declared support for Islamic foreign-based terrorists groups while lampooning the administration of former president Goodluck Jonathan of unjustly killing Boko Haram terrorists like pigs.

Mr Fani-Kayode who had initially backed the minister, asking detractors to present evidence has now backtracked, describing him as a cool-blooded beast. TODAY POLITICS learnt that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain retraced his steps after perusing the article of David Hundeyin, a freelance journalist, who outlined and published some of the controversial views.

“I considered giving Pantami a soft landing a few days ago and opted to forgive him for his offensive, dangerous and repugnant vituperations only because he had publicly expressed his regrets but this is no longer the case because his expression of remorse was clearly not genuine or heart-felt,” the opposition politician said in an article published on his website.

“For him to publicly express the fact that he is “happy” when those he described as “unbelievers” are murdered reflects his homicidal, sociopathic and psychotic mind-set and is not only indefensible but also unforgivable.

“Simply put the Minister is a hater of Christians and non-Muslims. He is a religious bigot, an ethnic supremacist, an unrepentant jihadist, a lover of bloodshed, carnage and terror and a psychopathic and clearly insane induvidual who may well have been responsible for the slaughter of many innocent Christians over the years as a consequence of his inflammatory rhetoric and reckless actions.

“Whatever is behind his cowardly disposition and reluctance to stand up for himself like a man one thing is clear: not only should he resign or be dumped as a Minister but he also ought to be arrested and sent to Nigeria’s equivalent of Guantanamo Bay which is a special facility for terrorists, built by the British Government a few years ago, in Kuje Prison in Abuja,” he added.
