The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Ibrahim Tanko Mohammad has resigned his position over ill health, Channels TV reports.
The broadcast station, citing judiciary sources which confided in one of its correspondent, said the top jurist appointed substantive head of the judiciary in 2019, stepped down Sunday night.
It reported that arrangements are now on to swear in the next most senior justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, as the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria.
This is coming a week after other justices of the apex court wrote to Mr Mohammad over the decrepit state of affairs in the court.
