Supreme court sacks Bayelsa APC Governor-elect over false documents of deputy

The Supreme Court has sacked David Lyon, as the governor-elect of Bayelsa State.

Mr Lyon’s removal was due to the false documents tendered by his deputy, Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo, to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

A five man panel of the apex court presided by Justice Mary Peter-Odili which removed the All Progressive Congress (APC) ordered that the certificate of return issued to them be withdrawn and given to “the party with the highest number of lawful votes and geographical spread.”

The cap is said to have fit the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Diri Duoye, who came second in the election which took place last year.
