Igboho to join June 12 nationwide protest as Buhari group calls for boycott

Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as Sunday Igboho will participate during the planned nationwide protest on Saturday.

Mr Igboho, an Oyo-based secessionist, made this known in a statement by his spokesman, Olayemi Koiki.

The Yoruba activist also solicited for the support of state governors in the South-West geo-political zone.

“Let us warn the federal government that if there is bloodshed this weekend, the international community is watching. If the military kills any Nigerian this weekend, it is going to be very hot,” Mr Koiki vowed.

“The Yoruba Nation rally will go ahead in every part of Yoruba land and the rest of the country where it will hold.

“Red alarm will begin on Friday. People should stock up food Items from Friday night.

“We are not backing down this weekend. We are ready to take back what belongs to us,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Buhari for Better Tomorrow Movement has advised Nigerians to ignore the proposed June 12, Democracy Day protest by some elements in the country it called unpatriotic.

In a statement released to newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday by the national publicity secretary of the group, Mr. Godwin Ngene, the group said the protest was planned to undermine the corporate existence of the country and disrupt the socio-economic activities of Nigerians in order to further inflict pains and hardships on the citizenry.

It noted that past experiences have shown that protests normally leave bitter tastes in the mouth of people affected; especially the business owners and employers of labour.

The group called on youths across the federation to avoid any form of protest on June 12 and give government time to address their concerns because governance is a process and never an act.
