Magu: Buhari suspends EFCC secretary, 10 other top operatives

President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly suspended the Executive Secretary of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Olanipekun Olukoyede, and ten other top operatives.

Mr Buhari, according to PM News, took the decision to suspend the top operatives on Tuesday to clear way for unhindered investigation of the corruption allegations levelled against Ibrahim Magu, the suspended acting chairman of the anti-graft agency.

The online news medium quoting presidential source said the newly suspended EFCC officials also has allegations of criminal and corrupt infractions hanging on their necks.

“All the top officials in the agency have been suspended, their offices locked, to prevent any tampering with files at the commission,” the source was quoted to have said.

Mr Magu, who has sailed many attacks from forces displeased with his style of fighting corruptions in the country, recently got into the trouble that might see him being removed from office.

The anti-graft czar who has been in detention for over a week now is accused of re-looting recovered assets, insubordination and misconduct by the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami who complained to President Muhammadu Buhari.
