Steer clear of any foreign country, Nnamdi Kanu warns Igbo govs, leaders, Army chief Buratai

Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) has warned leaders of the Igbo tribe in the country to steer clear from traveling to any foreign country henceforth.

Mr Kanu gave the warning on Sunday while speaking on the recent assault meted out on former deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu,  in Germany.

Mr Ekweremadu had gone to the foreign country to celebrate the new yam festival of Igbo residents there. On his arrival, persons suspected to be members of the proscribed group assaulted, dragged and chased him out of the venue for the occasion.

Those been warned to steer clear from foreign scenes if they do not want to be embarrassed includes; states governors from the South-East region, Igbo leaders including the President-General of Ohanaeze, Nnia Nwodo, federal lawmakers from the zone excluding Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe.

Mr Abaribe was one of those who stood in as sureties for the secessionist leader who was tried for treason but has now jumped bail.

The warning was also handed down to Tukur Buratai, the incumbent Chief of Army Staff of the Nigerian Army.

The absconder who ran away when his home was raided two years ago by the military also offered one million naira to anyone with useful travel itinerary to track down those listed above.

“So if you are working in any Government House in Southeast and you know which city in the world your governor is going to be, inform us so that we will mobilise for him and you will be rewarded with N1 million,” Premium Times quoted him as saying during his Sunday 87 minutes broadcast where he vowed that the attack on leaders of the zone will continue because they played a vital role in helping to proscribe IPOB.

“They and not the Federal Government of Nigeria proscribed IPOB.

“They said they proscribed IPOB to douse rising tension in the region. What caused the tension, because the military raided my house in Umuahia.

“We have nominated five persons each in every country or the world who are ready to be arrested and be jailed for this purpose. Many of us have been killed so what is there in going to jail”, he added.

He said Mr Ekweremadu was attacked because he had not condemn insecurity bedeviling the region.

“He went to celebrate New Yam Festival in Germany when his people are being killed and our women being raped. Where did they get the new yam because there is none in Igboland since all the farmlands have been destroyed by herdmen”.

Kanu also praised the outspokenness of Mr Abaribe and Femi Fani-Kayode, describing them as those who speak truth to power.
