Senator Kalu denies telling SSS to starve Nnamdi Kanu

Orji Kalu, lawmaker representing Abia North at the Senate has denied asking the State Security Service (SSS) to starve Nnamdi Kanu, detained leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB).

The senator made the denial in a Facebook post on Monday evening while denying reports to that effect circulating on social media.

Describing the circulated statement as a big fat lie, the former Abia State governor said people will normally complain no matter what one does.

“My brief take is that there is nothing one would do that people won’t talk about,” the senator explained. “If you don’t visit, they will blame you for not visiting. If you visit, they will still blame you. But more sympathetic to me is those that believe and propagate any cock and bull story. If the agenda is to create hatred between me and my brothers, it’s a waste of time because my people love me and I love them too. I will always respond to hate with love.”

Mr Kalu had last week visited the separatist leader detained at the headquarters of the secret police, an action that rattled the legal team of the secessionist facing charges bordering on treasonable felony and terrorism.
