Senate confirms Abdulrasheed Bawa substantive EFCC chairman

The Nigerian Senate has confirmed Abdulrasheed Bawa as the substantive chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Mr Bawa was confirmed after being grilled for about two hours, by dozens of lawmakers at the red chamber during Wednesday plenary.

His confirmation comes a week after President Muhammadu Buhari forwarded the name of the forty-year-old for screening.

According to presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, the new anti-graft czar is a trained EFCC investigator with vast experience in investigation and prosecution of advance fee fraud cases, official corruption, bank fraud, money laundering, and other economic crimes.
