Five members of the Kano State House of Assembly has been suspended for six months over allegation of misconducts.
The speaker of the house, Abdulazeez Gafasa, who announced this today said this was as a result of the fracas which transpired in the legislative last week.
Some members of the house had disrupted the sitting of the house last Monday over a committee report which recommended the dethronement of Lamido Sanusi as the Emir of Kano.
The plot to oust Mr Sanusi was finally actualized when the state governor, Umar Ganduje, deposed the former Central Bank Governor and announced a replacement.
The members suspended includes: Garba Ya’u Gwarmai representing Kunchi/Tsanyawa constituency, Labaran Abdul Madari representing Warawa constituency, Isyaku Ali Danja representing Gezawa constituency, Mohammed Bello representing Rimingado/Tofa constituency and Salisu Ahmed Gwangwazo representing Kano Municipal respectively.
“The five members are suspended for violating the rules of the House especially Order IV Sub 4 a, b, d and e disrupted the sitting of the House and prevented proceedings from going on,” Mr Gafasa said during today’s sitting.
“They behaved violently and even attempted to snatch away the mace in a clear attempt to sabotage the sitting of the House,” he added.
