Report yourself to nearest police station for prosecution, El-rufai tells NLC chairman Wabba

Governor Nasir El-rufai of Kaduna State has urged Ayuba Wabba, national chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to report himself to the nearest police station close to him.

Mr Wabba is leading workers in the state to pressure the state government to rescind its decision of some of its members sacked.

Thousands of workers were laid off last week and this has forced the workforce body to commence a five day warning strike with today being the second day.

On Tuesday morning, the governor declared the NLC boss wanted but his declaration did not deter the labour chief as he led his members to demonstrate at the state government house.

Fielding question from journalist shortly after an event he attended on Agricultural Policy launch, organized by the state’s ministry of Agriculture, El-rufai advised Wabba to report himself to the nearest police having allegedly violated the miscellaneous offenses act.

The Kaduna helmsman who confirmed the declaring Wabba wanted vowed that his administration was not going to revoke the sacking of workers.

“Yes you saw my Twitter handle post. They have attacked facilities and engaged in economic sabotage,” he said. “That is an offence under the miscellaneous offenses act. And we will bring him to justice.

“We are looking for him, he should report himself to the nearest police station or report to us, he will be prosecuted for economic sabotage,” Mr El-Rufai, who teamed up with the workforce body in 2014 to cast in bad light the administration of former president Goodluck Jonathan, said.

Meanwhile, Mr Wabba has dared the state governor to come and arrest him as he is waiting.
