Presidential spokesman ‘unaware’ of Gambari’s appointment as Buhari’s Chief of Staff

A presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu, says he is unaware of the appointment of Agboola Gambari, as his principal’s new Chief of Staff.

News of Mr Gambari been tipped as replacement for Abba Kyari, the late Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari filtered in on social media Tuesday afternoon.

The rumor further gained momentum when the Emir of Ilorin in a statement by his spokesman thanked the president for finding the Kwara-born professor worthy of manning the position.

Such development are always announced by presidential spokesperson but that is not the case with that of Mr Gambari

The announcement that ushered in the late Kyari into office, TODAY POLITICS gathered was disclosed by Femi Adesina, another spokesman of the president.

However, messrs Shehu and Garba did not announce that their principal has appointed Gambari as replacement for the deceased.

Efforts to confirm the development from the duo came back abortive as their know telephone numbers ranged unanswered. When one of them was finally reached, he said he is unaware of the appointment.

“I have not been briefed,” were the words of Shehu when Daily Post reached out to him.

Unconfirmed reports from the seat of power has it that the new appointee will assume office tomorrow. He is said to be awaiting his appointment letter as of the time of filling this report.
