The presidency has released a video clip to dispel rumors that Mamman Daura, nephew of President Muhammadu Buhari, is critically ill as being speculated in some quarters.
Mr Daura was reportedly flown out for treatment in London recently, despite the ban on international flights which is expected to resume August 29.
He was said to have manifested symptoms of the Coronavirus disease infections by the online news medium which published the report. The septuagenarian is said to be a member of the cabal, a kitchen cabinet of the president and resides at the seat of power.
Dispelling the rumor, Bashir Ahmad, the president’s personal assistant on New Media, published a video clip showing Daura discussing on the phone with someone and strolling around the apartment.
Mr Ahmad in a Saturday tweet said there exist no truth in the report and called on Nigerians to disregard it.
“No iota of truth in the earlier story that Mallam Mamman Daura was flown to London for an emergency medical attention, he is hale and hearty, Nigerians should disregard that story,” he said in the morning tweet alongside the video clip.
