The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has revealed the cause of the bomb blast which occurred in Ekiti, Saturday morning.
The explosion went off close to the old governor’s office in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
The Ekiti State Commissioner for information and Civic Orientation, Muyiwa Olumilua, who earlier confirmed this in a statement, said no casualty was recorded.
Channels Television reports that the police linked the explosion to some bomb detection devices kept in the area which may have exploded by a technical occurrence.
“These demolition accessories, in case there’s a bomb blast and they want to rescue the bomb out of that place, they might have the need for it. So it was kept in their stock house and it must have exploded from there,” Amba Asuquo, the state commissioner of police was quoted as saying.
The State governor, Kayode Fayemi, who arrived at the scene, did on-spot assessment and refused to speak with newsmen.
