Police deny bandits razed Soludo’s council secretariat in Anambra

The Anambra State police command says the reported attack on Aguata local government secretariat by bandits is false.

Armed bandits stormed the council secretariat where Governor Charles Soludo hails from and razed down some administrative buildings.

Multimedia reports seen by TODAY POLITICS also showed that the security post at the entrance and a nearby vehicle in the premises were separately set ablaze during the Thursday afternoon attack.

Some workers were trapped in the building and were rescued by passerbys. No casualty has been confirmed as at press time.

But describing it as a fire incident is the police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, who said the situation has now been brought under control.

“The report I have is that fire incident happened in Aguata local government area and our men were quickly deployed to cordon off the area so that hoodlums will not take advantage to commit other crime,” Mr Ikenga explained to TheCable. “Fire service was contacted. As I talk with you right now, the fire has been partially put off and our men are firm on the ground to make sure that the situation doesn’t escalate.

“No life was lost; there is no casualty as operation is ongoing,” he added.
