A state governor belonging to the Peoples Democratic Party has endorsed the preferred candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) for the speakership position of the next House of Representatives.
David Umahi, Ebonyi State governor made the endorsement on Tuesday when he played host to lawmakers who visited him in the state.
Mr Umahi gave his backing to Femi Gbajabiamila, who aspires to lead the 9th House of Representatives at the national assembly.
Mr Gbajabiamila was chosen by the APC to succeed Yakubu Dogara, who currently heads the lower legislative chamber.
He led his campaign train to visit the governor who urged him to carry every member along in the 9th assembly irrespective of party affiliation.
