Osun 2022: Court affirms Adeleke as PDP’s guber candidate

A federal high court sitting in Osogbo, capital of Osun has affirmed Ademola Adeleke as the validly elected candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the governorship election in the state scheduled for July 16.

The court gave the verdict on Wednesday while ruling in an application filed before it for the declaration of Dotun Babayemi as flag bearer of the opposition party.

Dismissing the suit, the judge, Nathaniel Ayo-Emmanuel, held that the primary election conducted at the WOCDIF Centre, Osogbo, on March 8, 2022, which produced Mr Babayemi is null and void.

Messrs Babayemi and Adeleke emerged winners in factional primaries held separately in the state but the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recognized the latter as the candidate of the opposition party, an action which led the former to approach the court but lost to the dancing senator.
