Oshiomhole does not have certificate – Wike

Adams Oshiomhole, the National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) is said not to possess any academic credentials.

The governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, made the allegation on Monday during a press conference in Port Harcourt.

He was apparently reacting to the disqualification of Godwin Obaseki,  governor of Edo State, from participating in the party primary of the APC slated for June 22.

Mr Obaseki, who paid him a visit yesterday, was disqualified over some academic credentials of his said to be deceptive. His disqualification has been upheld by the National Working Committee (NWC) headed by Oshiomhole, a former governor of the state and former leader of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC).

The APC helmsman had been attempting to politically control the sole of the state but his successor refused, leaving the party being factionalised in the state.

“Adams Oshiomhole campaigned for Governor Obaseki four years ago. The same man has turned around to say that Obaseki has a defective certificate,” Mr Wike said in a statement of the press conference signed by Paulinus Nsirim, the state Information commissioner.

“Has Oshiomhole apologised to Nigerians that he supported someone with a defective certificate? Who is saying that a sitting governor has a defective certificate? Is it a man that does not have a certificate?

“They think because they have the army, police and INEC, they can do anything and get away with it.

“They tried it in Rivers State but God gave us the will to say no. I hope Edo people will also say no to their impunity,” he added.
