Onnoghen: Trail Adjourned Indefinitely At CCT

The trial of embattled Walter Onnoghen, Nigeria’s Chief Justice, at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) has been adjourned indefinitely.

Mr Onnoghen, who has been suspended by President Muhammadu Buhari, is accused of non-declaration of assets traced to him.

The chairman of the CCT Danladi Umar, while adjourning on Monday morning said the adjournment became necessary given the order from Appeal Court that the tribunal should stay proceedings on the matter before it.

On Thursday, the Court of Appeal ordered the suspension of his trial, for it to decide a suit by Mr Onnoghen challenging the case.

The appeal court adjourned its main ruling on the case until January 30.

“In view of the Court of Appeal (order) to stay proceeding, I hereby adjourn the matter sine die pending the termination of the Court of Appeal,” Mr Umar said.
