Nyesom Wike, the Rivers State governor, has said the only political party existing in his domain is the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Mr Wike stated this on Friday while receiving defectors from the All Progressive Congress (APC) into the PDP in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
“There is no other party in Rivers State. PDP is the only party as far as Rivers State is concerned,” the governor said.
“Except people who do not see and those who tell lies in this state, the only party that means well for Rivers State is the PDP.
“This is the only party that keeps its promises. When we say a thing, we go all out to carry it out on behalf of the people,” Wike added.
The defectors led by Allwell Onyesoh said their should best be described as home-coming.
“We came back to our house. We went on a journey. We have gone, we have seen and we have come back,” Mr Onyesoh, a former commissioner in the state, said.
“We make bold to come back to the House that rightly belongs to us. I thank those who did not leave as they stayed home to keep the house in order,” he added.
Also present to receive the defectors is the state chairman of the PDP, Felix Obuah. The PDP helmsman urged them never to return to the APC whom he said has disappointed the nation.
