Ondo guber: Deputy gov joins ZLP

Agboola Ajayi, the deputy governor of Ondo State has joined the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

This is coming days after he dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which he joined after decamping from the All Progressive Congress (APC).

The PDP while reacting to his resignation, described him as a desperate politician.

His move to the ZLP was after he failed to clinch the gubernatorial ticket of the PDP during its primary. The number two helmsman of Ondo said he dumped his former parties because they lacked strong democratic culture.

Ajayi said his move to his present party which he will use in running for the governorship election scheduled for October 10 was to answer the yearnings of the aspirations of Ondo citizens.

“Today, I formally join the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), to achieve the noble cause of giving Ondo State a new direction and purposeful leadership,” he said yesterday.

“I call on all my teeming supporters, friends, followers and the admirers of good governance to show commitment and dedication by mobilizing and campaigning for the Zenith Labour Party in their various wards across the state.

“The collective wishes and yearnings of the good people of Ondo State remain the impetus for the bid to wrestle the governance of the state from political demagogue,” Ajayi added.

His principal, governor Rotimi Akeredolu, who is seeking re-election on the platform of the APC is expected to battle with him alongside other candidates.
