Officer injured as police repel attack on Enugu divisional HQ

A police officer on Friday sustained a bullet wound when his colleagues in Aguobu-Owa divisional headquarters in Enugu State repelled an attack from unknown gunmen.

The divisional headquarters located in Ezeagu local government area of the state came under attack around 9:00am in the morning, according to Journalist101.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in its report confirming the incident from the  state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe, noted that the attackers did not succeed with their mission.

“Full scale investigation has commenced to fish out the yet-to-be identified hoodlums, who operating in a black-coloured Corolla car, attacked Ezeagu Police Divisional Headquarters,” Mr Ndukwe confirmed in a statement. “The hoodlums were gallantly resisted by police operatives on duty.

“However, a policeman, who sustained gunshot injury, was rushed to the hospital and he is responding to treatment,” he added.

There are feelers that the hoodlums, who are still being trailed, must have escaped with serious gunshot wounds.
