The Chairman of Northern Elders Forum (NEF) Ango Abdullahi and his group, has been described as a paper tigers.
The attack on Mr Abdullahi and the group comes after the group called for the overhauling of Nigeria’s security architecture on Sunday.
The NEF had condemned the rise in insecurity and urged Nigerians to stand up against its enemies.
But the presidential spokesman seems to have taken it personal after describing members of the group as losers, saying it was not a conglomeration of true elders as one would think at the mere mention of its name.
“But the truth is that NEF is just Ango Abdullahi, and Ango Abdullahi is NEF. It is a quasi-organization that boasts of no credible membership, and its leader is akin to a General without troops,” Mr Adesina said in a statement on Sunday
“Before the 2019 presidential election, the one-man army called NEF had shown its antipathy against President Muhammadu Buhari, and its preference for another candidate. They all got beaten together.
“NEF is merely waving a flag that is at half-mast. President Buhari steadily and steadfastly focuses on the task of retooling Nigeria, and discerning Nigerians know the true state of the nation. They don’t need a paper tiger to tell them anything,” the presidential spokesman added.
