NNPC reacts as govt deletes N212 price from website after backlash

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has reiterated claims that there are no plans to increase petrol price in the month of March.

The state-owned oil firm raced to Twitter to reiterate the claim after the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) increased the price of fuel to N212 from N186 Thursday night.

“JUST IN:

#NNPC Insists No Increase in Ex-Depot Price of PMS in March,” the NNPC tweeted Friday morning.

TODAY POLITICS observed Friday morning that the regulatory arm of the federal government has deleted the template on its website which publicized the increase. It was previously accessible through: http://pppra.gov.ng/pms-guiding-price-for-march-2021/

Although the reason for deleting the template was not immediately known as at press time, it came amidst backlash from Nigerians over the new price hike.
