Walter Onnoghen, suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), and Ibrahim Muhammad, acting CJN, has been given seven days to respond to various petitions against them.
The ultimatum was handed to the duo by the National Judicial Council, (NJC) on Tuesday after its emergency meeting.
A communique read by the NJC at the end of the meeting said while Mr Onnoghen had one petition against him, Muhammad had two petitions to respond to.
The judicial council said the fourth petition it received was written against the chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, Danladi Umar.
NJC said while it addressed three of the petitions, it has directed the one against Mr Umar to the Federal Judicial Service Commission (FJSC) for further action.
The meeting was presided over by Justice Umaru Abdullahi, CON, former President of the Court of Appeal, as Interim Chairman.
