Nigeria’s COVID-19 infections exceed 50,000

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC has announced the confirmation of 593 new cases of Coronavirus disease infections in the country.

In its daily data published Wednesday night, the disease agency said while 253 patients recovered from the pandemic disease in the past 24 hours, 4 fatalities were recorded nationwide.

The new figure brings the total number of confirmed cases to 50,488, out of which 37,304 have been treated and discharged while the death toll increased to 985 in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The 593 new cases are reported from 16 states- Plateau (186), Lagos (172), FCT (62), Oyo (27), Delta (25), Rivers (20), Ondo (19), Edo (18), Kaduna (17), Enugu (12), Akwa Ibom (10), Ogun (7), Abia (6), Gombe (6), Kano (3) and Osun (3).
