Nigeria’s COVID-19 cases exceed 54,000

With the new one hundred and forty three cases of Coronavirus disease infections announced on Monday, the total number of Coronavirus cases in the country has exceeded fifty four thousand.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced the new figure yesterday night, adding that 125 patients recovered from the deadly virus with no fatality recorded in the past 24 hours.

The new figure brings the total number of confirmed cases to 54,008, out of which 41,638 have been treated and discharged while the death toll remained at 1013 in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The 143 new cases are reported from 18 states- Plateau (35), Kaduna (21), Lagos (19), FCT (13), Ebonyi (9), Adamawa (7), Enugu (7), Katsina (7), Edo (6), Kwara (5), Osun (3), Anambra (2), Kano (2), Niger (2), Ogun (2), Benue (1), Borno (1) and Sokoto (1).
