Niger govt confirms release of abducted Kagara students, staff

The abductees from Government Science College, Kagara in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger, have regained freedom.

Students and staff of the school, numbering 42 were abducted by suspected bandits on February 17.

Ibrahim Balarabe, Chief of Staff to governor Abubakar Bello, received the returnees who arrived Minna, the state capital.

The abductees are camped at the Niger State Development Company suite to freshen up before being taken to the government house to be received by the governor.

Journalists were barred entering into where the victims were being kept as at press time.

Their release comes a day after schoolgirls were kidnapped in Zamfara State by armed bandits.
