NDLEA grills, releases Obi Cubana

The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Thursday grilled popular socialite Obinna Iyiegbu widely known as Obi Cubana.

Mr Iyiegbu who honoured the agency’s invitation at about 9am was questioned for honours before he was released in the afternoon.

No official statement was released over the development.

Vanguard quoted a source as saying he was invited to clarify some financial transactions involving payments and transfer of huge foreign currencies.

There are reports that suspicious payments were made into Cubana’s account by three convicted drug dealers from Malaysia, Nigeria and India and this may be some of the reasons behind his invitation.

Late last year, the Hotel magnate honoured the invitation of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) where he was detained and released the next day.

He came into limelight after organizing a flamboyant burial for his late mum in July 2021.
