Members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) across the country took to the streets to demonstrate over the continuous economic hardships that has greeted the removal of fuel subsidy.
Multimedia reports showed that NLC members in Abuja, Lagos, Ebonyi, Niger, Oyo, Kaduna, Ogun, Imo, Enugu, Rivers, Kwara, Akwa Ibom, Kano and Plateau took part in the demonstrations Wednesday morning.
They resorted to protests, after negotiations which began last week with President Bola Tinubu government officials, failed Tuesday night.
In Lagos, the demonstrators stormed the state house of assembly, calling on its leadership to address them.
On sighting the protesters approaching, security operatives shut the entrance gate of the national assembly in the nation’s capital.
Repeated pleas, by the protesters to the security agencies that the gate be opened for them to access the facility, fell on deaf ears.
As they began singing and chanting, some of the demonstrators resorted to pulling down the iron gate and gained entrance to the premises.
