Korede Adewumi, a welder in Ile-Ife, Osun State, has been accused of raping a teenage girl and has absconded after committing the crime.
Mr Adewumi was reported to have committed the crime last Saturday and has fled his place of abode for over a week now.
The sibling of the victim told Premium Times that the culprit forcefully had canal knowledge of the teenager who hawks around the Olubuse area of Ile-Ife after calling and picking the item sold by the Senior Secondary 2 (SS2) student.
“He did buy from her and pretended to go back inside and get money. When he finally came out, he stood by the entrance of the front door and asked her to come for her money,” the paper quoted the narrator who said it was in the course of coming to collect the money that she was violently dragged by hands into the apartment.
“Unfortunately, no agile person was home at that time to come to her rescue while shouting but the weak and feeble landlord of the house. Before the landlord could get to other neighbours for help, Korede had done his bad deeds and taken to his heels,” he added.
The victim who is reportedly bleeding through her vagina has been referred to the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital from a clinic where she was first admitted before the matter was reported to the police.
The force operatives are said to have gone to the scene of the act fourfold but the rapist has not been seen since he fled.
